Jim vs. Murph (60%)

I have not given up on the Summer of Murph.

“Murph” (60%)
Run 0.6 miles
60 pull-ups
120 push-ups
180 squats
Run 0.6 miles

So, this is the new plan for the Summer of Murph: instead of adding 5% every two weeks, add 10% every three. I finished this in 23:18. That’s almost six minutes faster than when I did 60%  during the last SoM, but it brings my theoretical Murph time from 36:10 to 39:20. That’s less than pleasing, since the latter number is higher than my actual Murph time.

But maybe that shouldn’t be surprising? We’ll see how things go in three weeks.

Jim vs. Back Squats

Closing out the week with the back squat linear progression.

175 x 5
175 x 5
175 x 5
175 x 5
175 x 5

Still going strong. Did these without the “benefit” of the mirror again.

Jim vs. Back Squats

Back to Teagle after my light week, and back to the back squat linear progression.

170 x 5
170 x 5
170 x 5
170 x 5
170 x 5

Moving right along.

Jim vs. Light Workout, Goblet Squats

This is my last light workout of the week, and I decided to do goblet squats with the 53lb. kettlebell to make up for taking a week off from my back squat linear progression.

On Monday, it’s back to the full workouts.

Jim vs. The Half-Murph, Part 1 of The Second Summer of Murph

Gods help me, I’m gonna try another Summer of Murph. Organized slightly differently, but I’ll get to that. Right now, the 50% Murph.

Half-Murph
.5 mile run
50 pull-ups
100 push-ups
150 squats
.5 mile run

Finished in 18:05, again. That’s almost eerie.

We’ll see where this goes.

Jim vs. Back Squat

Back to the gym, back to the back squat linear progression.

165 x 5
165 x 5
165 x 5
165 x 5
165 x 5

Still coming along nicely.

Jim vs. Back Squat

160 x 5
160 x 5
160 x 5
160 x 5
160 x 5

Jim vs. Kettlebell Nancy

Another home variation of a CrossFit WOD.

Kettlebell “Nancy”
Five rounds for time of:
400m run
15 kettlebell overhead squats (35lbs)

I’m doing my best to keep working in running, but it doesn’t seem to make me like it any more. I finished this in 15:15.

Jim vs. Back Squats

Today brought me back to the linear progression.

Back squat
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5
155 x 5

Ended up on a squat rack in the middle of the gym, so I had to line myself up and watch my stance without the benefit of a mirror. All in all, that’s a good thing to do.

Jim vs. Back Squat

Back to the back squat linear progression.

150 x 5
150 x 5
150 x 5
150 x 5
150 x 5

Not much else to say.
