Jim vs. a Light Workout with Box Jumps

Same as the last two days, but with box jumps. Said box jumps left me breathing hard and my heart beating heavy; that may be a sign that I’m still sick. Not sure what that means for next week’s workouts.

Jim vs. a Light Workout with Goblet Squats

Same thing as Monday, just with goblet squats instead of kettlebell snatches. Though I gotta say, it’s worrisome how tiring I find this. My cardio has gone to hell, though I suppose it’s possible I’m just still recovering.

Samson’s new schedule may require me to start doing my home workouts after work instead of before. This may be a good thing, if I’m this wrecked in the morning.

Jim vs. a Light Workout with Kettlebell Snatches

It’s been a rough couple of weeks. First Samson, who’d been sick, got sicker; this was miserable for him, stressful for us, and wrecked our sleep schedule something fierce. Luckily, we figured out what was wrong with him, and he’s getting better, but the aforementioned stress and lack of sleep got me sick, too.

So this is my first workout in a while, and it’s a light one: pull-ups, push-ups, squats, sit-ups, KB swings, and wrapping each round with 5 KB snatches per arm. Then some stretching. This week will be light, so see if I’m recovered; if I am, it’s back to it next week.

Jim vs. One More Light Workout

I did this one at home, so the warm-up part was pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, kettlebell swings, and jump rope. For the extra, I did kettlebell snatches.

Tomorrow, back to it.

Jim vs. A Light Workout With Some Cleans

Another couple turns through the warm-up today, this time interspersed with cleans: three sets of three reps, 95lbs. I made sure to do full squat cleans, and they felt fine.

One more of these light workouts, which I’ll probably do at home on Friday, then I will hopefully do a real workout this weekend. I’m thinking of going back to the Brand X scaled versions of the CrossFit main site workouts: they were how I started four years ago, Charlotte’s  been having good luck going back to them, and I figure they may be a good change for a while.

Jim vs. A Light Workout That Didn’t Feel Light

Went to Teagle for my light workout today. (They have chalk again! Woo!)

Two rounds: pull-ups, push-ups (dips, the second time), overhead squats, back extensions, sit-ups, jump rope, then 15 reps of sumo deadlift high-pulls with 65lbs.

And I felt exhausted afterwords. Damn.

Light workouts are apparently a good call this week.

Jim vs. The Light Workout

Two weeks ago I thought I was over my illness, and worked out. I was clearly not over said illness, because I couldn’t get out of bed for two days.

Trying to get back into it this week, but I’m gonna do light workouts. Today, that meant pull-ups, push-ups, squats, sit-ups, KB swings, and jumping rope. Two rounds of it.

Then I did a super-short finisher:

5, 4, 3, 2, 1 of:
Right hand KB push press
Left hand KB push press

And, done. Let’s see how my body and immune system react.

Jim vs. A Light Workout for the Road

About to travel for a bit, so I did one more light workout before heading out. I was home, so my warmup changed a bit: stretching, pull-ups, push-ups, air squats, sit-ups, kettlebell swings. Still did two rounds, and went back to the untimed 400m runs each round.

Light week complete. Back to full workouts when I get back.

Jim vs. Another Light Workout

A light week means light workouts. Once again, I did two rounds of my standard warm-up, but instead of runs at the end I added a set of 15 sumo deadlift high-pulls, using 65lbs.

Nothing more to say, really.

Jim vs. A Light Workout

Realize that it’s been two months since I did a light week, so I decided I was due. I went in, did two rounds of my usual warm-ups — pull-ups, push-ups, dips, light overhead squats, etc. — and put in an untimed 400m run at the end of each round.

Didn’t feel particularly light, though, which indicates that I was, in fact, due.
